The White Card QLD — also called the Queensland Construction Induction Card — is mandatory under the Queensland Work Health and Safety Act 2011. Anyone who performs or is about to perform construction work, or regularly enters an active construction site in Queensland, must hold a valid White Card. Only Queensland residents can complete the WHSQ-approved White Card course.
The QLD White Card is based on the national CPCWHS1001 unit— the same qualification delivered in every other Australian state. Your Queensland White Card is nationally recognised — accepted on construction sites in NSW, VIC, WA, SA, ACT, TAS, and the NT. Complete the QLD course as a QLD resident. Use the card anywhere in Australia.
In Queensland, White Card training is overseen by Workplace Health and Safety Queensland (WHSQ). White Card Webinars delivers QLD sessions through The Careers Academy (RTO 46244), a WHSQ-compliant accredited provider.
Ensure you have the following ready before your session:
📌 FIFO and remote workers: Complete your White Card course before travelling — do not rely on finding stable internet at a remote site. Your course must be completed in QLD as a QLD resident.

Our QLD White Card online course delivers the complete CPCWHS1001 unit in a 6-hour live Zoom session with a WHSQ-compliant trainer:
“There are two topics I extend in QLD sessions: heat and powerlines. On heat — Queensland construction workers doing outdoor work face real physiological risk. I make sure QLD students understand that heat is a managed hazard with its own hierarchy of controls: eliminate where possible (schedule heavy work before 10am), engineer controls (shade, misting), administrative controls (work-rest cycles, buddy check-ins), and PPE. On powerlines — ENERGEX and Ergon Energy have exclusion zone requirements stricter than general construction rules. Any work within 3 metres of a Queensland overhead powerline requires a powerline risk assessment in the SWMS and in many cases direct contact with the network operator. Powerline contact incidents in construction are almost universally fatal. I treat this content seriously.”
White Card Webinars offers competitive pricing for live, WHSQ-compliant online White Card training. All sessions include 6-hour live Zoom training, same-day Statement of Training, Statement of Attainment, and White Card by post:

Under Queensland’s WHS legislation, a White Card is required for any person carrying out, or employed to carry out, construction work in Queensland:
Wazz: ‘I had a student in a QLD session who had been out of construction for six years. He assumed his White Card from 2018 was still valid — and he was right, because White Cards don’t expire. But his employer required workers returning after a long absence to complete a refresher before reinstating site access. That’s an employer requirement, not a WHSQ regulation, and it’s becoming more common on major QLD infrastructure and resources-adjacent projects. We got him through the full course and he was back on site within a week. But a quick conversation with his employer beforehand would have clarified whether he needed a full new course or just a refresher.’ |
No — your Queensland White Card does not expire. WHSQ has no renewal requirement and there is no expiry date on the card. Your QLD White Card is valid for life in Queensland and in every other Australian state and territory.
Some employers — particularly on major commercial, resources-adjacent, and government projects — may require workers with older cards to complete an internal refresher. This is employer policy, not a WHSQ regulation.
📌 Note for regional and remote QLD workers: Some fly-in fly-out and drive-in drive-out site contracts in the resources sector have additional induction requirements on top of the White Card. Confirm the full site access checklist with your employer before you travel.

Our Queensland-experienced trainers work with students heading to every type of QLD construction environment — Brisbane CBD builds, regional civil projects, Gold Coast residential, and infrastructure adjacent to the resources sector. Here is what they flag most often:
“The thing I try to leave every QLD student with is a clear mental model of the difference between the White Card and everything that comes after it on a specific site. The White Card is universal — it proves you understand the national framework for working safely in construction. But every site in Queensland has its own additional layer: a Brisbane CBD commercial site will have its own site induction and emergency procedures; a civil project in regional QLD will have additional competency requirements for specific equipment; a resources-adjacent site will have elevated safety requirements including fitness-for-work checks and drug and alcohol testing. None of that is in the White Card course — it's site-specific. What the course gives you is the foundation that makes those site-specific inductions make sense.”
Our QLD White Card course is delivered 100% online via live Zoom. Queensland residents can complete their course from anywhere within the state — or while temporarily located elsewhere — using a device with a stable internet connection. No need to travel to Brisbane or any training centre:
