The White Card ACT — also called the ACT Construction Induction Card — is mandatory under the Australian Capital Territory’s Work Health and Safety Act 2011. Any worker who performs construction work on, or regularly enters, an active construction site in the ACT must hold a valid White Card. Only ACT residents can complete the WorkSafe ACT-approved White Card course.
The ACT White Card is based on the nationally standardised CPCWHS1001 unit— the same qualification used in every Australian state. Your ACT White Card is nationally recognised — valid on construction sites in NSW, QLD, VIC, WA, SA, TAS, and the NT. Complete the ACT course as an ACT resident. Use the card anywhere in Australia.

The White Card ACT requirement applies to anyone whose role regularly brings them onto an active construction site in the ACT — including many people who don’t think of themselves as construction workers:
No — your ACT White Card does not expire. WorkSafe ACT has no renewal requirement. Your White Card is valid for life in the ACT and in every other Australian state and territory.
Some ACT employers — particularly on government, defence, and infrastructure projects — may require internal refresher training as a project-specific requirement. This is employer policy, not a WorkSafe ACT regulation.
